Set Requirements and Planning.

Today the technical supervisor and I marked out the set (doors, flaps and windows) in the Winton Boys Brigade hall so that the director could see these elements and work with them. I found that when talking to the director his view reinforced my understanding of the importance of having the the set elements in rehearsals, otherwise it can be too late when it gets to the technical rehearsals.
Below is a list of the set requirements I made so that the designer, scenic artist, the technical drawing supervisor and I know how the set is progressing and can plan how elements will be built or made and what has been sourced already. For tomorrow I have arranged to have a meeting with the designer so that we can discuss everything together as a creative team.

Set Plan 19th November 2012.
Zangler’s Shop.
·      Two moving frames, being made by the carpenter and then having a black wash.
·      Two mannequins, sourced.
·      Counter, dress with wood and then it needs painting, what effect, flat or will there be drawers?
·      Stool.
·      Till, Vintage toy one, sourced, ok?
·      Broom, sourced?
·      Flooring?
·      Newspaper, Viennese, what kind of newspaper do you want?
Madame Knorr’s.
·      Polystyrene heads, sourced.
·      Fabric drops down from larger of the frames, could this be organza (we had some cream from the archive that was used for Canterbury Tales, is this suitable?) which is tied at the back so that it can be easily untied during the performance. Has something similar to this been rehearsed?
·      Hats, have we got something suitable in the store, are there spare hats that the designer has sourced for the costumes and wants to use?
·      Large round mirror.
·      Coat stand, sourced.
Imperial Garden Café and Imperial Garden.
·      2 tables (these can be taken through the props door on the set) with 2 covers (to floor), fastened down, so they don’t fall off when taken off stage? Could be Velcro as then we can change this easily for Miss Blumenblatt’s.
·      Cutlery and plates for 6 places.
·      Champagne bottle.
·      Tea lights and holders.
·      6 cups and two large tankards, sourced?
·      6 chairs.
·      Screen, needs re-covering, what fabric are we recovering it with?
·      Newspaper still there.
·      Tealight and holder x2.
·      Fake Cake.
·      Lobster in a covered tray, never seen?
·      Leaves and vines, ‘outside’.
·      Garden table and two chairs.
·      Garden lanterns x3.
·      Food Trolley.
Time period for setting and removal of props and objects?
Miss Blumenblatt’s.
·      Rug.
·      New table cover, floral fabric (to floor).
·      Newspaper remains on set.
·      Oval mirror comes back on stage.
·      Two candlesticks and a flower pot, sourced.
·      Organza draping added as curtain in window to the garden.
Miss Blumenblatt’s Garden.
·      Vines and lanterns moved to the inside of the stage (SR).
·      2 shrubs, flat boards, real or painted. Could these come through the swing doors?
·      Ladder, sourced.
·      Tree.
*FLAMEPROOF ALL FABRIC*
